چکیده

Determination of fungi associated with malformed tissues of mango was done on different local and exotic cultivars during the year 2000-2001. Five mango growing districts of the Punjab were selected for the study with three locations in each district. A total of 75 malformed samples and 750 tissues (10 tissues / sample) of 5 standard local cultivars and 1500 tissues of exotic cultivars were assayed. Fusarium mangiferae proved to be the dominant fungus with 100% samples infection in all the five districts. Maximum within tissue infection of 98% was observed in Okara and Sahiwal districts. Local variety Anwar rataul and exotic Tomy atkin appeared to be the most infected varieties giving 92.0 and 96.0% tissue infection, respectively.

Transcription Profiling Analysis of Mango–Fusarium mangiferae Interaction

Malformation caused by Fusarium mangiferae is one of the most destructive mango diseases affecting the canopy and floral development, leading to dramatic reduction in fruit yield. To further understand the mechanism of interaction between mango and F. mangiferae, we monitored the transcriptome profiles of buds from susceptible mango plants, which were challenged with F. mangiferae. More than 99...

Interaction of the mite Aceria mangiferae with Fusarium mangiferae, the causal agent of mango malformation disease.

The role of the mango bud mite, Aceria mangiferae, in carrying conidia of Fusarium mangiferae, vectoring them into potential infection sites, and assisting fungal infection and dissemination was studied. Following the mite's exposure to a green fluorescent protein-marked isolate, conidia were observed clinging to the mite's body. Agar plugs bearing either bud mites or the pathogen were placed o...

PCR-Based Identification and Characterization of Fusarium sp. Associated with Mango Malformation

Mango malformation is the most serious disease of mango causing considerable damage to the mango orchards worldwide. It is a major threat for mango cultivation in north Indian belt. In recent years, Fusarium sp. is finding wide acceptability in scientific community as a causal agent of this disease. However, little information is known about the variability in Fusarium isolates from malformed m...
